Sherry Saele is an interdisciplinary who embraces a full spectrum of materials but considers colorto be her medium. Her work explores the disorientation inherent in the psychological turmoil that is associated with change, personal relationships and the duality of experiencing mutually exclusive emotions. Utilizing the connotations of found objects and domestic debris, she takes what is normally found inside the private domain and rearranges, alters and displaces it, rendering the familiar as foreign. Originally from Victoria, Canada, Sherry is currently based in Portland, Oregon. Sherry completed her BFA at Oregon College of Art and Craft where she received the Juried Show Alumni’s Choice Award, the President’s Scholarship and the Jean Vollum Fibers Award.
